Nutrivert’s notable achievements and recognitions include being named the best startup at Georgia Bio and winning the Cade Prize for Innovation.
Nutrivert was founded in 2016 after two of our founders proposed a solution to a 65-year-old medical mystery: how do antibiotics promote growth in animals despite the fact that the drugs are often given at doses too low to control bacterial disease?
The solution to the mystery didn’t just matter for animals. It also mattered for people. Livestock antibiotics are believed to be the largest-volume pharmaceutical segment on earth, at an estimated 100,000 tons per year. Given in large volumes at low doses, antibiotics selectively kill the bacteria that are susceptible to antibiotics, but spare the bacteria that are drug-resistant, promoting antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Since 2016, the Company has conducted numerous studies in pigs and broiler chickens to fine-tune the best possible compound. The result is Nutrivert LDPP.
